Folklore 4 day option

Choose this option whether you want to join our folklore intensive – or dip in and out of whatever takes your fancy on our full timetable.
16th – 20th August 2026
Arrive 3 – 5pm 16th August.  Depart after lunch 20th August 2026

4 day Total Immersion:
Dip in and out of whichever classes you dance from the full timetable.  This includes any of the folklore classes and music classes on the timetable.  It does not include the project with Iana.

Folklore Course
This year’s folklore course with Abeer will take you on a tour round Egypt.
Abeer says:    ‘Join us for a unique journey through Oriental folklore – exploring regional styles, powerful technique, and expressive storytelling. This intensive is designed to enrich your movement, expand your repertoire, and bring new depth to your dance.’

Our Sunday afternoon session at 5pm allows Abeer to explain the structure of the course.
Across the 4 days you will visit each of the above regions.  Abeer will choose one style in which you will learn a choreography.  The other sessions will focus on the culture, history, music and dance steps of each region.  All are dance classes but with lots of information.
In this course Abeer will also explore how many oriental dance steps come from folklore roots.
As an added bonus you have a class with Iana on Persian dance to look forward to.
On the last day, Abeer finishes with a session to bring everything together and allow you time for questions and feedback.  To achieve the Folklore certification you must attend all the designated classes.  If you want to dip in and out of different things in the timetable do not register for the folklore course.  No need to make the decision now, you register on arrival at Summer School.
